We have worked for several years now to restore many pieces of furniture, some old, and some not so old, we have even copied customers items to reinstate a pair where one half of the pair has been lost or they have become separated through inheritance.
We are based in a purpose built centrally heated workshop just outside Yorks outer ring road near to Huntington village. We are equally happy to work in your home to restore or repolish floors, panelling doors etc.
I have been in the furniture trade since 1986 when I began my apprenticeship with Shaw and Riley, Cabinet Makers, I realised that I was happier restoring furniture rather than manufacturing it so I moved on to work with Farquharson and Baume, Antique Restorers and Upholsterers in Thirsk, before moving on to run the restoration workshop at The Main Pine company, and then on to run the workshops for French House Antiques, I also spent some time working with Andrew and David Podmore when they were based in Foss Gate.
Ben began his apprenticeship at Tomlinsons Antiques, working for Period Furniture in their Antique Restoration department, he then moved to become part of my team at French House Antiques and we hav worked together ever since, Ben runs the workshop when ever I am out to see clients or to collect furniture.
Tom joined us in July of 2012 and is our apprentice, he is learining the trade and he is making very good progress, he is studying for his City and Guilds Antique Restoration award with North Lancs Training Group.
